Valentine Watercolor Heart Overlays and Printable

Happy Valentine’s Day!! As I’ve said in past years, I’m not a big Valentine’s Day celebrator, but it’s impossible to resist commemorating the day just a little! Today I’m sharing two Valentine watercolor heart overlays and a free printable you could use a last minute card or for decoration.

I took watercolor classes for the better part of a year, but I had to cancel a round of class when I left home for an extended period of time following my dad’s passing. I didn’t sign up for the following six weeks because my husband was returning home for deployment, and then I ended up putting my paints and paper away for a long time.

Now I’ve started painting again and it’s reminded me of the many reasons I love watercolor. {{I’m actually working on an exciting new project that includes watercolors and I can’t wait to share details soon!}}

Today I have three variations on the same painting to share. You can go with the version shown above with the text “Love” already on it, or get the watercolor heart as an overlay/texture image to use with other designs. This version is available as both a high resolution JPG and a transparent PNG! It’s my first time sharing a transparent PNG, so it’s exciting for me in a nerdy way.

To download the “Love” printable, please click here.

To download the watercolor heart as a JPG texture, please click here.

To download the transparent PNG, please use this link.

I’ll have many more new texture options to announce soon, so stay tuned!

How do you celebrate Valentine’s Day? Are you super into celebrating in a big way, or do you prefer a smaller celebration like I do?

    We don’t actually “celebrate” Valentine’s day, but I do love the crafty stuff associated with it 🙂 I love the look of watercolor + typography. Your heart printable is so sweet!

      Thank you! I look forward to sharing more watercolor pieces soon. Crafting for holidays, especially a cute holiday, is always a lot of fun! I’m not expecting a present or anything, though. Having my husband home is present enough – 2016 was the first year he was home for Valentine’s Day!

    We’re not big on Valentine’s either. We often don’t even do cards.

      I wasn’t expecting anything (and didn’t get my husband anything!), but he surprised me by coming home with a card yesterday. It was exactly right for us. =)

    Beautiful colors in this! I love water colors and love to do a bit myself in painting! it can be very forgiving of the novice painter 🙂

      While there are a few artists who create spectacularly realistic watercolor paintings, I really prefer to explore watercolor’s more whimsical nature. I love allowing paints to mix on the page and waiting to see how, exactly, it all turns out!
