Weekend Wrap-up and Looking Ahead

Hi, everyone! Folks have asked me to be sure to post pictures from my first ever CrossFit competition this weekend, so I figured today would be a good day to do a weekend wrap up/life lately style post! I also wanted to share what you can expect looking forward over the next 4-5 weeks while we’re gone and then get re-organized after returning home.

As expected, we finished last overall in our division at the competition, but we exceeded our specific expectations. We were competing alongside people who are literally internationally ranked (two of the ladies are part of a team that’s, I think, currently #2 in the region and who have gone to the CrossFit Games multiple times), so it’s kind of hard to feel bad about placing below them, you know? We did better than expected on the first workout, met our goal on the second, and I got a PR in the third workout with a clean at 140# followed by two front squats with the same weight. I realize in the grand scheme of things that isn’t a huge clean weight, but it’s more than I weigh and a personal best for me! And I made us awesome shirts to match the team name (KettleBelles) my partner thought of, so that’s cool.

Alright, so that’s the life lately/weekend wrap-up part of the post! Now on to the what to expect going forward!

As regular readers know, Monday is usually “Motivational Monday” for me. While I will strive to continue sharing a motivational quotation to start the week, I will not be sharing a printable again until July. Because I will not have regular internet access while away, I won’t be able to create and upload printables. Unlike tutorials and recipes, which I do create and schedule ahead, I tend to base Motivational Monday printables on whatever is really “speaking” to me the preceding weekend.

Speaking of recipes and tutorials, as I’ve mentioned before, I do have several lined up to post while we’re away. Yay! I’ll also be writing about our preparations for a month of “dry camping” and a bit about what we’re doing while away. A lot of my “free” time while away will go into preparing my next big project – my journey to radical self love class! People seemed pretty interested in a self-love project, so I’ve decided to go all out and do it e-course style. The course will include things like explanations of how the brain works and how to form new mental patterns, self-love practices, guided meditations, affirmations, worksheets to fill out, and, my favorite, “challenge exercises.” Each week has a fun challenge exercise that’s designed to reinforce that week’s lessons. They’re awesome things like taking yourself on a date and having coffee with a friend. It is going to be fantastic!!!

I’ll also be working on launching a new YouTube channel solely for yoga called Twisted Lifter Yoga. I’ve already designed the logo. =)

I’m planning an introductory video post to explain what’s in a name and what to expect from the channel and I’ll be sharing that before I start posting any yoga videos. Things are going to be busy around here!

    Completing the CrossFit tournament is so amazing! Congrats to you and your team! Cute name and logo 🙂 Looks like you have lots of exciting plans this year! In my early 20s I read this great book on brain cell activity and how to consciously create connections that will enhance intelligence, creativity, imagination and analytical ability not to mention positive life experiences. The book is out-of-print so I’m treasuring my copy 🙂

      Isn’t neuroplasticity amazing? It is absolutely incredible what the mind is capable of. That definitely sounds like a book to hang on to! And thank you – I had fun both at the competition and designing the logo. =)

    Congrats on the challenge! and for beating your goals!! you all look like you’re having fun, which I’m not so sure I would be with crossfit – ha! Love the Twisted Lifter logo – that is awesome

      Thank you!! We’ve already started filming some yoga videos, I just can’t decide whether to “launch” now or after we get home. I have to admit that occasionally I’m absolutely miserable in the moment while doing CrossFit, but then I feel so happy I did it. afterwards

      We got lots of complements on our glitter. =) The two teams from our gym were the only ones with glitter on our shirts!

    You go, girl! I love watching Crossfit competitions, are you competing in the VA Games? I wish I could be here for that one, my brother’s gym is competing, but I’m not sure if he will.

      So…I don’t know. I judged for the VA games last year and that was actually a whole lot of fun. The latest post I saw from them said something about an online qualifier in June, and we will both be away from home and not really have internet access in June.

    The KettleBelles!! Love it. Congrats on the PR, too! I’m excited for the e-course and feel like I need something like that right about now. I’m pretty hard on myself (especially with professional goals) and I could stand to give myself a break. Haha. Have fun on your trip!

      It can definitely be too easy to feel down on one’s self, especially when you work for yourself and have to set all your business and personal goals! I’ve been having so much fun working on the course material. Hopefully I actually have time to get some work on the house done while I’m gone because I have a really long list of videos I want to film!

      I agree – last doesn’t really matter. We met our personal goals, challenged ourselves, and had a good time! If you’d have told me a year or two ago that I’d clean 140, I’d probably just have laughed out loud.
